The Floating World style of theatre combines text, audio visual, image and movement to tell a story creating an immersive world for the audience to enter with us.
After watching Behind the Walls, the 2011 RTE documentary on Irish psychiatric institutions Andrea was captured immediately by the story of Hanna Greally. On reading her novel Birds Nest Soup she knew she would have to stage this powerful story of this strong and interesting woman.
A year of collaborating with audio visual artist Furry on how this story might be told for theatre led to the certainty it would have to be told only from Hanna’s perspective. A one woman show was imminent. Gill McCaw came on board as writer and after many different phases with funding and development we have finally brought the piece to full production with the help of many artists and researchers along the way.
