… this is what we call the floating world …

Floating World Productions provides a platform for emerging artists and theatrical diversity.  Founded by theatre practitioner Andrea Scott to work in a multi disciplinary context creating theatre and performance events. We combine theatre, dance, film, visual art, music, and interactive sound and visual elements in conventional theatrical spaces and unusual environments. We invite our audience to live in the moment with us.

‘Living only for the moment, turning our full attention to the pleasures of the moon, the snow, the cherry blossoms and the maple leaves; singing songs, drinking wine, diverting ourselves in just floating, floating: caring not a whit for the pauperism staring us in the face, refusing to be disheartened, like a gourd floating along with the river current: this is what we call the floating world …‘ Tales of the Floating World by Asai Ryoi

A new play written and directed by Michael Hilliard Mulcahy

Performed by Don Wycherley

Original music composed by Sam Jackson

Produced by Floating World Productions

Viking Theatre, Clontarf
July 1st – 13th 2013

After a lifetime of wrestling with the tides fisherman Bobeen finds it hard to face the sea now, but what he discovered in the mouth of the harbour almost thirty years ago keeps calling him back. This time it will connect him to what he thought was lost and gone forever.

FOR OUR NEXT PRODUCTION FLOATING WORLD IS GOING BACK TO PURE THEATRE, NO FANCY BELLS AND WHISTLES. (They’ll be back next time though – we love those bells and whistles).  THIS PLAY IS A BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN AND PERFORMED STORY.
